'Regional Sub-Custodian of the Year for South Europe'

Société Générale Securities Services (SGSS) has won the award for "Regional Sub-Custodian of the Year for South Europe" at the ICFA European Custody and Fund Administration Awards*, which took place in London on Wednesday 25 November 2009.

This award is recognition of SGSS's  service offering, which goes beyond standard clearing and custody services and is built both on the expertise of its staff and its commitment and ability to develop technological solutions. This approach has led to the introduction of a number of innovations in SGSS's offering, including the services it has developed to enable clients to take advantage of changes in local markets, in particular:

  • SGSS in Athens has been developed as a local hub offering international investors a unique access to other markets in the region, such as Cyprus, Turkey and Egypt. In addition, SGSS Athens was also the first local custodian to offer clearing and custody services to international broker-dealers accessing the Greek market remotely and directly
  • SGSS in Spain was the first custodian to offer custody for ETFs in the Spanish market
  • In Italy, SGSS has won a number of significant mandates based on its expertise as a depositary bank

The panel of judges for the 2009 ICFA Awards was made up of leading industry professionals with a wealth of experience in the sector.
